There are many ways individuals, corporations, local business, community groups and clubs, NGOs, non-profits, and governmental agencies can help out families in need! Qualifying need is based on verification by NGO or government organization of a family’s homelessness or poverty.

Distribution of Funds, Services, and Products to Families in Need: All financial donations are pooled into a general scholarship account. Scholarship funds are applied directly to child’s tuition account with Avalon on a weekly basis for scheduled care for that upcoming week; no tuition funds are ever paid directly to client(s)/parent(s). Products and services are distributed to both Avalon, for child’s individual use during care hours, and also directly to the family (e.g. diapers, canned food, etc.). Any returns are processed by Avalon.
Ethical Operation: All of Avalon’s financial and business records are available to view to maintain ethical transparency. An independent, annual audit is also performed and available each year. Scholarship agreements and attendance records are also available (in redacted form to protect last names and other private information for security purposes). An exclusive nonprofit incorporation for 501(c)(3) status to support Avalon’s scholarship is in process. Currently, a tax EIN is established for reporting purposes.
Program Options:
Avalon’s tuition rates are based on a percentage of California’s Department of Education rates for Santa Clara County, published at: http://www3.cde.ca.gov/rcscc/index.aspx.
Current Avalon tuition rates as of April 2019 (covers care, sports and music lessons, learning materials, and meals): Full-Time $240 per week / Part-Time $190 per week
Terms of scholarships depend on available funds, eligibility of families, and family needs. Scholarships are guaranteed for families only for the term dates on the scholarship agreement (a sample of terms is shown below), whether or not immediate funds are available. If no funds are available for scholarship, Avalon may “float” the family on a partial scholarship for a maximum of three months. Once funds become available, the balance owed will be retroactively paid to Avalon before a new scholarship is granted.

Donation to cover meals for a child receiving a scholarship (families in poverty or homeless)
If you would like to help, you can enter the quantity of $10 dollar units you wish to donate. Our current capacity is five (5) children. Qty 1 of $10 will help feed one child breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner for a week because we buy in bulk and supplement food with donations from the Second Harvest Food Bank and California’s healthy meal reimbursement programs. Families do not receive the money directly, but are instead provided a monthly statement showing how scholarship funds were distributed.
